CHESTERVILLE – The annual OPP Stuff a Cruiser with Food Drive was held in several locations throughout Dundas County on Sat., Nov. 16. Jane Schoones, team leader at Community Food Share, explained that the Stuff a Cruiser with Food Drive was held at Winchester Foodland, Laura’s Valumart in Morrisburg and Mike Dean’s in Chesterville.
Schoones commented she was “very happy” with the donations received and expressed her gratitude on behalf of the CFS for the support shown from the community. Hamza Amgholani, a student from North Dundas District High School, was volunteering at the food drive following an event at NDDHS where agencies could find volunteers for various events. Auxiliary Sgt. Jason Flaro, from the Ontario Provincial Police Detachment in Long Sault mentioned how the SDG Auxiliary are always ready to support the CFS with this event, reaching out to families in their times of need.
When asked about upcoming events, Schoones pointed out the Holiday Train will be stopping in Finch on Nov. 27 at 2:30 p.m., with entertainment provided by Scott Helman and Madeline Merlo, with donations from the event provided to the CFS. In a post event email to The Record, Schoones confirmed that “the Community Food Share received 2,800 lbs in food, $155 in gift cards and $677 [in] cash during the Stuff the Cruiser event.”
