Rockets remember
The North Dundas Rockets welcomed the Morrisburg Lions to the Chesterville Arena on Sat., Nov. 9, in the NCJHL. The Rockets hosted a pregame ceremony honouring the veterans and current members of the military ahead of this year’s Remembrance Day. The alternate captain of the Rockets Jarrett Williams and the captain of the Morrisburg Lions Tanner Barnett take the ceremonial puck drop performed by Major Dénis Tondreau, Company Commander with the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa. ST. ISIDORE — The North Dundas Rockets played a pair of games this past weekend as they welcomed the Morrisburg Lions on Saturday night and travelled to St. Isidore on Sunday night to take on the Eagles.

Eagles 5 Rockets 2

The North Dundas Rockets travelled to the St. Isidore Arena on Sun., Nov. 10, to take on the Eagles in the NCJHL. The Rockets went into the game in second place in the West Division sitting 11 points behind the first place South Grenville and just two up on the Metcalfe Jets, after the Jets defeated the Morrisburg Lions earlier in the day. 

The Eagles sat in third place in the East Division. 

The Rockets got off to a great start scoring the opening goal just 20 seconds into the first period as Justin Lefebvre pounded one home from Nicolas Carroll and Francis Proulx. 

The Eagles tied the game at 1:24 and took their first lead of the game at 9:50. The Eagles took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. 

The Eagles scored the lone goal of the second period at 8:14 on the power play and took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission. 

The Eagles made it 4-1 at 7:03 of the third period and 5-1 just 30 seconds later. The Rockets added a late goal with 1:36 remaining as Brad Nash sniped one from Aiden Whynot, but it was too little too late as the Rockets dropped this game to the Eagles 5-2. 

Suffering the loss in the Rockets’ goal was former Eagle, Sebastien Moreau.

Rockets 3 Lions 2 (OT)

The North Dundas Rockets welcomed the Morrisburg Lions to the Chesterville Arena on Sat., Nov. 9, in the NCJHL. The Rockets went into the game in second place in the Martin Division, 10 points behind the first place South Grenville Rangers and just three up on the Metcalfe Jets in third. 

The Lions opened the scoring when Aiden Daly fired one home from the point from Braden Kehoe and Justin Shay at 4:21 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead. The Lions took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission. 

The Rockets tied the game when Nicolas Carroll slapped home a rebound from Cole Hodges and Brett Lannin at 12:14 of the second period. Neither team was able to take a lead before the the clock wound down to close out the second period. The teams took a one-all draw into the second intermission. 

The Lions retook the lead when Justice Brownlee slammed one home from Jack Ingram and Owen Fetterly at 10:27 of the third period. The Rockets tied the game with just 1:27 remaining in regulation as Josh Tapp snapped one to the back of the net from Jarrett Williams and Brad Nash. 

Neither team was able to score before time wound down in regulation so the game headed to a five-minute three-on-three overtime period. The Rockets’ defenseman, Brett Lannin scored the game winning goal at 3:33 of overtime becoming the hero of the night unassisted. 

The Rockets snuck one out with a 3-2 victory. With the win, the Rockets earned some breathing space over the Metcalfe Jets, moving four points ahead in the West Division. The Rockets outshot the Lions 63-35. Picking up the win in the Rockets’ goal was Emerson Hunt making 33 saves and suffering the loss in the Lions’ goal was Riley Phillips making 60 saves.
