COBDEN—The Embrun Panthers played a pair of games this past weekend as they welcomed the Carleton Place Canadians on Friday night and travelled to Cobden to take on the Whitewater Kings on Saturday night.
Kings 2 Panthers 1 (OT)
The Embrun Panthers travelled to the Cobden Arena on Sat., Nov. 9, to take on the Whitewater Kings in the CCHL2. The Panthers went into the game in third place after losing their previous game to the Carleton Place Canadians 3-2 as the Ottawa West Golden Knights slipped one point ahead in the Martin Division.
The Kings sat in seventh place in the Richardson Division with just a pair of wins this season.
The Panthers opened the scoring at 17:42 of the first period as Eric Skyba scored his third of the season from Cameron MacMillan and Maverick Labrie and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The teams battled to a scoreless second period with the Panthers taking the 1-0 lead into the second intermission.
The Kings knotted the affair at one at 11:43 of the third period. Neither team was able to score before the final buzzer sounded to end regulation, so the game headed to a five-minute three-on-three overtime period.
The Kings ended the game just 15 seconds into the extra frame handing the Panthers their second loss of the weekend. The Kings outshot the Panthers 42-27. Suffering the loss in the Panthers’ goal was William Nguyen making 40 saves.
Canadians 3 Panthers 2

The Canadians opened the scoring at 12:45 of the first period and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The teams battled to a scoreless second period as the Canadians carried a 1-0 lead into the second intermission.
The Canadians made it 2-0 at 2:48 of the third period and 3-0 at 3:49 but the Panthers got to within two as Jarrett Ladouceur scored his fifth of the season unassisted at 15:09. The Panthers got to within one with just 1:25 remaining in regulation as Tristan Taillefer scored his 15th of the season from Mathieu Brennan and Nathan Brown.
The Panthers pulled their goalie in favour of an extra attacker but were unable to score the game-tying goal as the Canadians hung on for a 3-2 victory. The Canadians outshot the Panthers 42-30. Suffering the loss in the Panthers’ goal was William Nguyen making 39 saves.
