MORRISBURG—The Morrisburg Lions played a pair of weekend games as they travelled to Chesterville on Saturday night to take on the North Dundas Rockets and welcomed the Metcalfe Jets on Sunday afternoon.

The Morrisburg Lions welcomed the Metcalfe Jets to the Morrisburg Arena on Sun., Nov. 10, in the NCJHL. The Lions were coming off a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime loss to the North Dundas Rockets the previous night and looked to seek a victory over the Jets.
The Jets sat alone in third place, four points behind the Rockets in second and two points ahead of the West Carleton Inferno in the West Division. The Lions opened the scoring when Aaron Smith pounded one to the back of the net from Brennan Markell and Tyson Sherrer at 4:22 of the first period, taking a 1-0 lead.
The Lions made it 2-0 when Jake Amon scored off a rebound with just 52 seconds remaining in the opening frame from Sherrer and Markell. The Lions took the 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Jets cut the deficit in half when Alex MacNeil scored from Mike Armstrong and Alex Cloutier just 1:27 into the second period. The Lions took a slim 2-1 lead into the second intermission.
The Jets tied the game at 4:09 of the third period as MacNeil scored his second of the game from Rocco Barresi. The Lions found themselves on the power play later in the period but it was the Jets’ Marc Brosseau scoring a shorthanded goal at 11:34, unassisted, giving the Jets their first lead of the game.
The Lions pulled their goalie in favour of an extra attacker with under a minute remaining in regulation but were unable to score before the clock ran down. The Jets snuck out a 3-2 victory handing the Lions their second loss of the weekend with that same score.
The Jets outshot the Lions 46-35. Picking up the win in the Jets’ goal was Josh Legault, making 33 saves and suffering the loss in the Lions’ goal was Riley Phillips making 43 saves.
