RICHMOND—The Casselman Vikings played three games this past weekend as they welcomed the Char-Lan Rebels on Thursday night, travelled to Embrun on Friday night to take on the Panthers and to Richmond on Sunday afternoon to take on the Royals.

The Casselman Vikings travelled to the Richmond Arena on Sun., Oct. 27, to take on the Royals in the CCHL2. The Vikings were coming off a tough 8-4 loss to the Embrun Panthers in their previous game but still sat in the top spot, in the Martin Division just one point up on the Ottawa Jr. Canadians in second place. 

The Vikings opened the scoring just 1:07 into the first period as Alexandre Charlebois scored his third goal of the season from François Drouin taking a 1-0 lead. The Vikings made it 2-0 when Drouin scored his eighth goal of the season from Shawn Patterson at 4:48. 

The Vikings took a three-goal lead when Drouin scored his second of the game and ninth of the season from Patterson and Nicolas Chartrand at 12:53. The Vikings took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. 

The Vikings made it 4-0 when Charlebois scored his second of the game and fourth of the season from Patterson on the power play at 4:46 of the second period. The Vikings made it 5-0 when Patterson scored his third of the season from Justin Gregoire and Drouin also on the power play at 7:31. 

The Vikings kept the pressure on and took a six-goal lead when Xavier Léveillé scored his first of the season from Mathieu Talbot at 8:05 on the power play. The Royals got one back at 9:05 on the power play but the Vikings countered with a goal at 15:29 when Frédérick Gagnier scored his fourth of the season from Shane Dickie and Patterson on the power play. The Vikings took a 7-1 lead into the second intermission. 

The Royals made it 7-2 just 40 seconds into the third period, while shorthanded but the Vikings’ defence was able to hold the Royals off the scoreboard for the remainder of the final frame. 

The Vikings took the game 7-2. With the win, the Vikings pulled to three points up on the second place Canadians for top spot in the Martin Division. The Vikings outshot the Royals 69-34. Picking up the win in the Vikings’ goal was Zachari Racine making 32 saves.

The Casselman Vikings welcomed the Char-Lan Rebels to the J. R. Brisson Complex on Thurs., Oct. 24, in the CCHL2. The Vikings went into the game with a one point cushion at the top of the Martin Division over the Ottawa Jr. Canadians who sat in second place. 

The Vikings opened the scoring when Maxime Desjardins scored his first goal of the season from Justin Grégoire and Mikael Houle at 2:32 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead. The Vikings took the one-goal lead into the first intermission. 

The Vikings made it 2-0 when François Drouin sniped his seventh of the season from Zachary Fournier and Nicolas Chartrand just 59 seconds into the second period. The Vikings made it 3-0 when Mathieu Talbot pounded home his seventh of the season from Chartrand and Fournier on the power play at 3:52 and 4-0 when Houle scored his fourth of the season from Mikaël Bissonnette at 4:32. The Vikings took a five-goal lead when Jason Cossette scored his seventh of the season from Shane Dickie at 12:50. The Vikings took a 5-0 lead into the second intermission. 

The Vikings made it 6-0 when Shawn Patterson scored his second of the season from Frédérick Gagnier and Cossette at 4:46 of the third period. The Rebels finally got on the score sheet at 5:32 and scored their second goal at 12:40 to make it 6-2. The Vikings closed out the scoring at 17:09 when Fournier scored his first of the season unassisted. 

The Vikings took the game 7-2. With the win, the Vikings moved to three points up on the Canadians for first place in the Martin Division. The Vikings outshot the Rebels 36-19. Picking up the win in the Vikings’ goal was Zachari Racine making 17 saves.
