CARLETON PLACE—The Embrun Panthers played two games this past weekend as they welcomed the Athens Aeros on Friday night and travelled to Carleton Place on Saturday night to take on the Canadians.

The Embrun Panthers travelled to the Carleton Place Arena on Sat., Oct. 5, to take on the Canadians in the CCHL2. The Panthers were coming off a 5-2 win over the Athens Aeros and sat in a fourth place tie in the Martin Division with the Ottawa Jr. Canadians.
The Canadians sat in fifth place in the Martin Division. The Canadians opened the scoring at 3:15 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead. The Canadians outshot the Panthers 23-7 in the first, but managed just a single goal on the Panthers’ net minder, William Nguyen. The Canadians took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Panthers tied the game at 4:24 of the second period as Cayden Martin scored his first goal of the season from Robert Beaudoin and Cameron McMillan.
The Panthers took their first lead of the game when Jarrett Ladouceur scored his second of the season from Matthew Brennan on the power play at 11:49. The Panthers made it 3-1 when McMillan scored his first of the season from Martin and Beaudoin at 15:21 but the Canadians got back to within one just 10 seconds later on the power play.
The Panthers took a 3-2 lead into the second intermission.
The panthers extended the lead when Alex Caron scored his first of the season from Ladouceur and Tristan Taillefer just 1:43 into the third period. The Canadians got 12 shots in the third period but were unable to close the gap as the Panthers went on to take the game 4-2.
With the win, the Panthers were still tied with the Ottawa Jr. Canadians for fourth place just two points out of second place. The Canadians outshot the Panthers 57-26. Picking up the win in the Panthers’ goal was Nguyen making 55 saves; for his effort, Nguyen was named first star of the game.

The Embrun Panthers welcomed the Athens Aeros to the Palais des Sports on Fri., Oct. 4, in the CCHL2. The Panthers went into the game in a sixth place tie with the Char-Lan Rebels and had a chance to move into a two-way tie for fourth place in the Martin Division.
The Aeros have not had a good start to their season dropping all six games they played. The Panthers opened the scoring when Tristan Taillefer rifled home his sixth goal of the season while shorthanded and unassisted at 3:05 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead.
The Panthers made it 2-0 when Juno Gregoire scored his third of the season from Jarrett Ladouceur and Justin Cloutier at 5:39. The Panthers made it 3-0 when Taillefer scored his second of the game and seventh of the season from Alexandre Caron and Cayden Martin at 8:27.
The Aeros got one back at 11:47 but trailed 3-1 heading into the first intermission.
The Panthers took a three-goal lead when Robert Beaudoin scored his third of the season from Eric Skyba and Nathan Brown at 10:02 of the second period.
The Panthers took the 4-1 lead into the second intermission.
The Panthers made it 5-1 when Gregoire scored his second of the game and fourth of the season unassisted at 15:10 of the third period. The Aeros closed the scoring at 16:55 as the Panthers took the game 5-2. With the win, the Panthers moved into a fourth-place tie with the Ottawa Jr. Canadians.
The Panthers outshot the Aeros 57-20. Picking up the win in the Panthers’ goal was Joshua Ivanski making 18 saves.
