In the first game of the night in the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League on Thurs., June 13, Blue played host to Red at the Chesterville Arena. Red’s goalie, Cashelle Baldwin was busy on this night with her team being down a few players but she came up big here making a save off of Blue’s Lindsay Cummins (8). CHESTERVILLE—Week nine of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League kicked off with Red welcoming Blue in the opening game on Thursday night and in the second match of the evening, Green played host to Yellow.

In the opening game of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League on Thurs., June 13, at the Chesterville Arena, Blue hosted Red. Blue went into the game in first place, three points up on Red who are second in the standings.
Red opened the scoring with just 22 seconds remaining in the first period as Steph Dafoe pounded one to the back of the net from Marlee Grady and took a 1-0 lead into the second period. Red took a two-goal lead when Theresa Schoones scored an unassisted goal at 5:46.
Neither team was able to score before the clock wound down in the middle frame with Red taking a 2-0 lead into the third. Blue cut the deficit in half when Laura Rushford fired one home from Marissa Imrie at 9:17 of the third period but that was as close as they could get as Red managed to keep the ball out of their net taking the game 2-1.
With the win, Red moved to within one point of the first-place Blue squad. Picking up the win in Red’s goal was Cashelle Baldwin and suffering the loss in Blue’s goal was Olivia Salmon.
In the second game of the night in the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey league on Thurs., June 13, Yellow welcomed Green. Yellow’s forward, Shannon McRae takes a shot on Green’s goalie, Roxanne Crump as defenceman, Sara Casselman (12) battles to help out. McRae ended up scoring on a rebound which was one of her two goals of the night. Yellow went on to take the game 5-4 and moved three points ahead of Green for third place. Moore photo

In the second game of the night in the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League, Green welcomed Yellow. Yellow went into the game in third place just one point up on Green who sat in fourth.
Green opened the scoring at 5:22 of the first period as Selena Shane blasted one home from Jackie Morris taking a 1-0 lead. Yellow knotted the affair when Cinnamon Boulanger snapped one to the back of the cage from Patti Hall and Sam Benoit at 8:20.
Yellow took their first lead of the game when Shannon McRae slapped one home from Alex Roach with 1:43 remaining in the opening frame and took a 2-1 lead into the second period. Yellow made it 3-1 when McRae scored her second goal of the game from Roach and Benoit at 11:13 of the second.
Green got back to within one as Carly Cramp snapped one home from Sara Casselman and Katie Currie with just 1:25 remaining in the middle frame. Yellow took a 3-2 lead into the third period. Yellow restored their two-goal lead when Roach powered one to the back of the net just 1:10 into the third period from Hall and Mackenzie Thomas.
Green did not back down, scoring just two minutes later as Karen Edwards slipped one home from Janice Casselman and Morris. Yellow grabbed back their two-goal lead when Roach scored her second of the game from Amber Saddlemire at the 12-minute mark of the third but Green closed the gap again; with 1:47 remaining as Morris sniped one from Edwards to close the gap to one.
Green pressed for the tying goal but were unable to score before the clock wound down to zero as Yellow took the game 5-4. With the win, Yellow moved three points ahead of Green in third place but failed to gain ground on Red after they beat Blue in the previous game.
Picking up the win in Yellow’s goal was Terri Smith and suffering the loss in Green’s goal was Roxanne Crump.
