Time for a cuppa

CHESTERVILLE – Hosted by the Chesterville and District Historical Society, the third annual Victoria Day Tea held on May 18 at the Heritage Centre in Chesterville was by all accounts a resounding success, with CDHS President Ashley Harper commenting a post event email to The Chesterville Record that an estimated 30 to 40 people attended the Tea. 

While enjoying a cup of tea or coffee accompanied by tea sandwiches and delicious desserts, people were able to peruse the CDHS collection. The collection includes artifacts, books, photographs as well as microfilm of The Chesterville Record all pertaining to the history of Chesterville, North Dundas and neighbouring municipalities.

Harper went on to note that the Victoria Day Tea has become “an annual tradition of the Chesterville and District Historical Society that is meant to bring the community together.” She explained how “it is a way for the public to become more aware of both our organization and our local community,” as well as an opportunity to thank the community for their continued support of the organization. The Heritage Centre will be open for visitors during the Art on the Waterfront weekend planned for June 1 and 2. Currently the Heritage Centre is open by appointment only and between June and September will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Wednesday afternoons. The CDHS meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Heritage Centre in Chesterville.
