For several years, the firefighters of South Stormont Fire Station No. 3 have held a pancake breakfast at the fire station in Newington on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend. This year, the event held on Sat., May 11 saw a steady stream of people ready to enjoy a full-course pancake breakfast. The breakfast was provided free of charge, with donations accepted, and a chance available to win a Mother’s Day planter donated by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Newington Fire Station. Denise Beaudette Manley told The Chesterville Record that the planter was won by Connie Middleton. Newington resident Dennis Marion is shown having pancakes added to his plate during the breakfast. The next fundraising event is slated for the Saturday of Father’s Day weekend when the Newington Firefighters Association will host a barbecue and car wash at South Stormont Fire Station No. 3.
