Rangers participate in the Leo

MORRISBURG—The 2019 Leo Boivin International Showcase had to be moved to a new location for 2019, after their usual home, the Leo Boivin Community Centre in Prescott was shutdown this past season due to faulty refrigeration equipment. The tournament was held in Morrisburg on the weekend of March 22 to 24, it featured 12 teams from both sides of the border.
The teams competing this year were Newbridge Academy, St. Lawrence Steel, South Grenville Rangers, Blythe Academy Prep, Halton Hills Thunder, Ottawa Jr. Senators, Rideau St. Lawrence Kings, Mississauga Reps, Oshawa Generals, Newmarket Redmen, Kemptville 73’s and the Toronto Aces.
The winners of the tournament divisions were, the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings for the Dr. Peters Consolation with a 2-0 win over the St. Lawrence Steel; Halton Hills Thunder in the Dr. Peters Championship with a 6-1 win over the Toronto Aces; the Mississauga Reps in the Leo Boivin Consolation with a 6-2 win over the Blythe Academy Prep and the Leo Boivin Champions were the Ottawa Jr. Senators with a 3-0 win over the Newmarket Redmen. The organizers of the tournament and “The Row” were impressed with the turnout and the quality of the hockey and look forward to next year’s tournament.
