The North Dundas Atom B Rep Demons travelled to Montreal for the Can/Am Challenge Cup over the weekend of Jan. 11-13. The Demons’ first game was Friday morning against the Adirondack Thunder and won easily by a score of 7-1. In their second game later in the day, they took to the ice against the St. Albans Skating Association (SASA) green team from Vermont and shut them out 8-0. In their third game, the Demons took on the Toronto Shamrocks and put it to them as well winning 7-1, thus winning their division. In the final game, the Demons had a rematch with the Shamrocks. The Demons took a 1-0 lead after the first period and added six more in the second period. The Shamrock got on the board early in the third period but the Demons got that one back later in the frame. The Shamrocks scored a late goal but in this tournament the Demons were not to be denied as they took the game 8-2 winning the Can/Am Challenge Cup. The Demons’ Jake Weber also won the shootout at the skills competition. The winning team members are (not in order) players: Beckett Campbell, Luke La Russa, Kyan Helmer, Merrick Crawford, Ben Drew, Cole Jone, Kade Young, Connor England, Reid Rankin, Emmett Lemire, Noah Lafrance, Donovan Shaver, Jake Weber and Jay-Zeus Mbarushimana.
