AVONMORE – There was plenty of action at North Stormont Place in Avonmore on Sat., Oct. 13 when the Roxborough Agricultural Society held their winter storage intake and their fundraising breakfast in conjunction with the Avonmore Firefighters Run.
Avonmore firefighter Garnet Last commented this was the fourth year for the timed run which raises funds for the Avonmore Firefighter Association. Organizers told the Chesterville Record 133 runners registered for the five kilometre and 10 kilometre runs and received an event t-shirt, swag bag and breakfast voucher as part of their registration.
Run volunteer Steve Densham commented how it was “great to see the firefighters not just helping the community with serious situations, but also involved in the fun side of life.” Also, Linda Salter, RMT from Massage Therapy Clinic in Avonmore provided massages to runners after the race.
Inside North Stormont Place, members of the Roxborough Agricultural Society were busy cooking up a full course breakfast for race participants and community members. Breakfast organizers were expecting around 300 people who would be able to enjoy a home-style breakfast of pancakes, eggs, baked beans, sausage, ham, muffins and a selection of beverages.
