Vikings begin road to sixth consecutive championship
The Casselman Vikings held a spirited scrimmage on Thurs., Aug. 30, at the J. R. Brisson Complex that featured six players that had to move on after winning the championship last season as they sped things up for the new blood. The Vikings will be without 11 players that were 20-year-old last year as they look to extend their championship streak to six. Moore photo

CASSELMAN—The Casselman Vikings began their defence of the CCHL2’s Barkley Cup on Mon., Aug. 27, at the J. R. Brisson Complex in their first camp of this season. The Vikings had 21 players show up during the training camp over the three days Aug. 27, 29 and 30.
On Thursday night they had a scrimmage which included six players from last year’s roster that were overagers. The scrimmage was fast and light with a lot of bragging and teasing going on to help ease the mood.
The Vikings welcome the Embrun Panthers on Tues., Sept. 4 in their first exhibition game of the season and the Winchester Hawks on Thurs., Sept. 6. The Vikings then travel to the Palais Des Sports on Sat., Sept. 8, to take on the Embrun Panthers and on to the Barbara Ann Scott Arena in Ottawa to take on the Ottawa West Golden Knights on Tues., Sept. 10.
