Intermediate Ravens Girl s take PRSSAA title
The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School Ravens Girls basketball team welcomed the St. Francis Xavier Francis Catholic High School Falcons in the 2018 PRSSAA championship game on Wed., May 16. The Falcons won their semi-final game against the Russell High School T-Wolves to earn the right to take on the Ravens who had a bye to the championship after finishing the regular season undefeated. The Ravens went on to easily take down the Falcons by a score of 42-16. RUSSELL—The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School was awarded the 2018 PRSSAA Championship after the Intermediate Ravens Girl’s basketball concluded an undefeated season and hosted the Russell High School T-Wolves and the St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School Falcons on Wed., May 16.
Ravens 42 Falcons 16: After winning the regular season, the Ravens had a bye to the final game while the T-Wolves played against the Falcons in the morning in the semifinal. The Falcons eventually took the game and with the win moved on to take on the Ravens in an afternoon tilt.
The Ravens came out flying in the first half scoring 27 points and holding the Falcons to just seven points. Emma Gaudet led the charge with 12 first-quarter points followed by Emma Gabriel with eight, Riley Daniel with four, Hannah Martin with two and Kate Landriault with a single for the Ravens.
The Ravens scored another 15 points in the third quarter and held the Falcons to nine points. The game was called after the third quarter as a mercy allowing the Ravens to take the PRSSAA Championship.
