EMBRUN – The Good Neighbours Food Bank had a very successful Fill the Bus Campaign this past weekend, on Sat. Dec. 9, at Your Independent Grocer in Embrun, according to Chantal Mercier, Vice-President, Good Neighbours Food Bank of Embrun, Limoges, Marionville and Russell.
The total amount raised is to be confirmed – $28,072.08; money raised – $6,466.00, Scotiabank Fund Match Program – $6,466.00 (to be confirmed) and food donations – $15,140.08. The Food Bank received two additional donations from Lanthier Financial Services ($5,000) and the Royal Canadian Legion Russell Branch 372 ($1,000).
Mayor of Russell Township Pierre Leroux commented at the Co-op that it is “always appreciated when everyone comes out and donates.”
Mercier mentioned their appreciation of all the assistance with volunteers, as well as the 417 Bus Line which provided the buses at the various locations; La Co-op agricole d’Embrun, Scotiabank, RBC, Desjardins, Mayor of Russell Township Pierre Leroux, MP Frances Drouin, MPP Grant Crack, and of course the Russell County Auxiliary OPP.
