ST. ISIDORE – The North Dundas Rockets were supposed to have two games this past weekend but the game on Saturday night against the Papineau Vikings was cancelled due to inclement weather.
Eagles 4 Rockets 2: The North Dundas Rockets travelled to St. Isidore on Sun., Nov. 19, to take on the Eagles in the NCJHL. The Rockets went into the game in sole possession of fourth place with eight wins and four losses on the season. The Eagles got off to a slow start after a dismal 2016-17 campaign but have righted the ship lately sitting in eighth place with a 6-6 record and sit just two points behind a log jam of teams with 14 points for fifth place.
The Rockets opened the scoring late in the first period as Justin Lefebvre snapped one home after springing himself on a breakaway with just 38 seconds remaining in the first period. The Rockets took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Eagles came out of the gate on fire scoring just 1:29 into the second period to tie the game at one. The Eagles scored two more at 7:51 and 15:15 on the power play and took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.
The Eagles scored their second power-play goal of the game at 6:04 of the third period to make it 4-1. The Rockets ended up on a 10-minute power play to end the game and added a late goal at 14:56 as Tanner Barnett sniped one home unassisted to make it 4-2.
The Eagles’ defence held the high-powered Rockets’ offence off the score sheet for the remainder of the third and took the game 4-2 handing the Rockets their fifth loss of the season and third in four games. Suffering the loss in the Rockets’ goal was Jason Buma.
