MAXVILLE – The Maxville Fair took place over the June 23 to 25 weekend and saw a record number of attendees. The Midway provided by Cope Amusements was a big hit with the kids and the many activities kept visitors entertained all weekend.
Friday was education day at the Ag Awareness and Education tent. Kids had the chance to learn bee awareness, soap making, archery, and SNC brought their interactive water display.
Bubble soccer games, volleyball and the tug-of-war took up one half of the grounds while, the holstein show, western horse show, extreme horse race and Showmanship show took over the arena and surrounding area.
The Fair’s first-ever truck and tractor pull drew big crowds and was a roaring success with revving engines and heavy duty machinery. Machines of all shapes and sizes competed to be the toughest, exciting spectators nearby. Competitors came from all over Eastern Ontario said organizer Linden Conboy. Huntingdon, Que., Vankleek Hill, Ottawa, Rockland and Clarence representatives brought their machines to the show. A total of 106 hooks were used during the competitions, including the practice pulls.
As the first Fair in the area, Maxville came out strong and despite the threat of poor weather, the Fair had a thriving weekend full of excitement and fun for everyone involved.
