WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Major White Pioneers were supposed to have two games this past week as they welcomed the Kemptville #4 Wildcats on Tuesday night and played host to the Kemptville #3 Wildcats on Thursday night. On Thursday night, the #3Wildcats showed up with only five players so the Pioneers took the game via forfeit.

The Williamsburg Major White Pioneers welcomed the Kemptville #4 Wildcats to the J. C. Whitteker Ball Park on Tues., May 16, in the Upper Canada Little League. The Pioneers went into the game undefeated on the season and looked to remain there with a win.

The Wildcats fought the Pioneers’ starting pitcher Brayden Barrie in the top of the first inning getting six batters to the plate but the Pioneers’ defence held them off the game sheet. The Pioneers scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning taking a 5-0 lead into the second inning.

The Wildcats scored two runs in the top of the second but the Pioneers fired back with four more runs in the bottom of the second. The Wildcats only got four batters to the plate in the top of the third inning and the Pioneers’ pitcher Cam Shaver struck out three of them.

The Pioneers’ offence continued their assault on the Wildcat pitchers scoring another five runs in the bottom of the third taking a 14-2 lead into the fourth. The Pioneers’ defence held the Wildcats off the score sheet again in the top of the fourth inning allowing just four batters.

The Pioneers were shutout in the bottom of the fourth inning for the first time in the game. The Wildcats scored a single run in the top of the fifth inning and the Pioneers didn’t need another inning, taking the game 14-3 and remaining undefeated on the season.

Scoring the runs for the Pioneers were Terrence Mudde and Cam Shaver with three each, Mason Hummel, Brayden Barrie and Ben Joldersma each scored two and Olivia Mudde and Austin Roy each scored singles.
